about

Atop A Pillar Of Earth, Embraced By Light is a blend of both doom and black metal, conjoined by choral backing and harsh, distorted vocals.

This particular song is based on death but in the form of a story. The story is that of a man or woman (I didn't really specify) who dreams of dying upon the peak of their favourite mountain, surrounded by beautiful and serene scenery. The song picks up toward the bottom, where they walk towards the light they feel awaits them at the top, pushing through the physical and mental strain of a non-specific illness.

Track Name: Atop A Pillar Of Earth, Embraced By Light
Through ice I scramble
Thick and cold
I feel my heart flutter
Palpitations
Fear
Inner erosion

My insides caving in
Like the darkest caverns of these mountains
As I move forward closer to the end
I see a vision of myself atop the peak

I, will seek thee there
I, embrace the cold air of Winter
I, will find thee there
I, will rise to the heavens

Grating and grinding
Decrepit are the inner workings of this machine
To continue becomes more dangerous
Yet I find I have lost the fear

Crippled nearly
I'm running on fumes
A cough, blood
A pain in my throat
I could not care

For now I gaze upon the last push
Just a few more stairs
Climb
Climb
The light is there

I feel as though I'm summoned
To this place so old, so tranquil
Is there a better place?
Is there a better way?

If I just lie here
If I just close my eyes
Will it hurt?
Will I feel a sting?
Is this a beautiful death?
Surrounded by views so pristine?
Under a Winter moon
By the stars, I shall be

I, will seek thee there
I, embrace the cold air of Winter
I, will find thee there
I, will rise to the heavens
